Carolina’s hurricanes avoided elimination and avoided being swept when they defeated the Florida Panthers 3-0 on Monday night at the Aierant Bank Arena.

With the victory, the Hurricanes now follow the 3-1 Panthers in the best series of seven. The hurricanes had lost their 15 final games of the east conference before Monday’s victory.

The hurricane goalkeeper, Frederik Anderson, began games 1 and 2 and was pushed in favor of Pyotr Kochetkov for game 3. Chief coach Rod toast’amour returned to Anderson for game 4, and the goalkeeper stopped the 20 shots he faced.

“Credit for them … They were fine,” said Panthers coach Paul Maurice.

The Panthers were short in the loss, since Sam Reinhart, Nike Mikkola and Aj Greer did not play.

The Panthers will have another opportunity to secure and move to the Stanley Cup finals when they face hurricanes in game 5 Wednesday at 8 pm et at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
