The Chargers will start more than 6,000 miles from the kind confines of the Sofi stadium next season. The NFL is returning to Brazil and has taken advantage of the Chargers as the team designated for the international game.
The opponent of the chargers will reveal this spring, according to the NFL.
The game is scheduled for Friday, September 5 in Neo Chemistry Arena in São Paulo and is part of the NFL International Series. Once the game begins, the chargers will be the first franchise in the history of the League to compete in the NFL games on five continents.

Since 1976, the chargers have played regular or preseason seasonal games in Mexico City, London, Tokyo, Berlin and Sydney.
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers met in São Paulo last season in the first NFL game in South America.

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl Lix. Philadelphia is scheduled to play in Los Angeles in 2025, but reigning champions can traditionally open the following season at home. In addition, it is unlikely that the NFL program the eagles for consecutive trips to South America.
The Chargers finished 11-6 in 2024 in their first season under coach Jim Harbaugh before losing 32-12 against Houston in the wild card of the playoffs.

“It is an honor to represent the NFL once again in an international stage,” said Ag Spanos, president of commercial operations of the Chargers. “It is also a great opportunity to help grow the game and take the Chargers brand to millions of sport fans in Brazil and Latin America.”
The NFL has announced that seven regular seasonal games will be played internationally during the 2025 season. The League can program up to eight regularly regular seasonal games next season.

In addition to the game in Brazil, London is scheduled to organize three games, and the Miami Dolphins will play in the first regular season game in Spain. The Indianapolis Colts have been selected as the local team for a game in Berlin, Germany, in 2025, and the Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Dublin to organize the first regular season game in Ireland.
In 2026, the Los Angeles Rams will be the team designated for a game in Melbourne, Australia, which will be the first time an NFL game takes place on that continent.
The complete list of NFL regular seasonal games for next season is expected to be labeled in May.
