NFL News: Baker Mayfield stars Bucs’s victory over Texans

Maybe it’s magic. Maybe it’s Baker Mayfield.

The star marshal of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers designed a 11-play and 80-yard trip that included two heroic plays to keep their hopes alive while defeating the Houston Texans, 20-19.

On the last trip of the Buccaneers, Mayfield looked at line 4 and 10 from its own 32 -yard line. He faced a tremendous pressure from the Texans defense, but used his legs to run 15 yards to get the first Down and keep the impulse alive. Two plays later, Mayfield found the Bucky Irving runner running through the field. Irving approached a possible tacle and threw three more on his way to a gain of 22 yards.

Mayfield moved the offensive for the countryside and Richaad White hit the ball in the scoring area for the 2 -yard score. He put the Buccaneers a point.

The Texans would not have another offensive play even with six seconds.

Mayfield took Lick after Lick in the game and was fired four times. He was hit strongly on the struggles and even got into the face of the Tejanos defensive, CJ Gardner-Johnson after a play. Even so, he had 25 of 38 with 215 aerial yards and two touchdown passes. He added 33 yards on the ground.

Tampa Bay’s first Touchdown arrived in the first quarter when Mayanfield found Ryan Miller with a 20 -yard score. Mayfield found the rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka for a 15 -yard touchdown in the second quarter. Tampa Bay had an advantage of 14-10 in part time.

The Texans Campo Marshal, CJ Stud, struggled in front of the pressure of the defensive line of the Buccaneers. But he kept Houston near the end of the game the best he could.

With 2:10 remaining, Stud gave the ball to the veteran runner Nick Chubb. He went to a 25 -yard touchdown to take the lead. It was Chubb’s first touchdown since November 21, 2024.

The defense of the Texans failed to maintain their share of the treatment.

Stud finished 13 of 24 with 207 yards and a touchdown pass to Nico Collins.

Tampa Bay improved 2-0 in the year, marking the fifth consecutive season that this record has reached. Houston fell to 0-2.
