Mike Tannenbaum may be biased, but he has confidence in the New York Jets.
Tannenbaum’s “Team 33” helped the Jets, of whom Tannenbaum was general manager from 2006 to 2012, determine that Aaron Glenn would be their head coach heading into the 2025 season.
However, the season was one to remember, as they finished 3-14 and became the first team to not record an interception in an entire season. They also lost each of their last five games by at least 23 points, another first in the NFL.

Glenn remains an employee of the Jets even though Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Kevin Stefanski and many others are available. The Jets could take the easy route and go with experience in what is a project that is off to a brutal start, but Tannenbaum seemed to believe he wanted the Jets to trust the process.
“It was great to be a part of the search a year ago. It was a great experience. And I think Aaron Glenn will be a very good coach long-term,” Tannenbaum told Pak Gazette Digital in a recent interview. “Obviously I’m not part of the organization, so it wouldn’t be fair for me to comment on what they should or shouldn’t, but I believe in Aaron Glenn a lot and I think he’ll be a good long-term coach.
“One of the things I think they deserve credit for is that they clearly have a long-term plan, without a doubt, in terms of picks, draft capital, and I think Aaron Glenn and (general manager) Darren Mougey will continue to execute the plan and hopefully see the results quickly in 2026.”

Of course, that’s hard for Jets fans to hear, as their playoff drought is now at 15 consecutive seasons, the longest in the four major professional leagues. But Tannenbaum thinks it’s “an exciting time” to be a Jets fan.
“The foundation of a good offensive line is there, which, I could tell you firsthand, being there, working with two teams (also the Miami Dolphins), it’s really difficult to put together the kind of young talent that they have on the offensive line. They have a true No. 1 wide receiver in Garrett Wilson. I think Mason Taylor is going to be a really good tight end. We’ll see what happens with Breece Hall, but, you know, there are a lot of really good foundational pieces.” Tannenbaum said.

“And of course, you’d like to win more games in the first year, but at the end of the day, we have part of the foundation there, and you have the number of draft picks, the salary cap space. If you try to take the first year, learn from it, take that foundation and improve it, I think we are all hopeful that we will see a better product on the field next year. I’m sure they will make a lot of changes to the roster. That will be evident in March, when free agency begins.”
