NFL news: IMMITT Smith calls Cowboys, he hates the recent success of Eagles

The member of the Profíse football hall, Emmitt Smith, is “sick” of seeing the drought of the Super Bowl of the Dallas Cowboys.

Philadelphia Eagles win two Super Bowls, including those of February, only adds to frustration.

“I’m fed up with that,” Smith told Sports Radio 94wip. “We have allowed others to move in the star and make fun of the star, and that is what happens. Now, suddenly, in the last 20 years, [Eagles] Win two Super Bowls, and think they are the best of the planet. And wherever I go, I listen to ‘go to the birds’.

“I’m tired of listening to ‘go birds’. I always ask: ‘Where are you going?’ You still have a long way to go to get to us. “

Smith was talking about the five Super Bowl titles that Dallas has in his case of trophies, three of which won in 1993, 1994 and 1996, while Smith led the field of the cowboys.

It is true that cowboys have more titles than Eagles, which have two. But those two have arrived in the last seven years. The Eagles won the first in 2018 before defeating Kansas City chiefs in February.

The Eagles are prepared to have another great season, assuming they underpin a couple of holes in defense. Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts and Aj Brown lead a powerful offense.

Dak Prescott of the cowboys says that it could “definitely” play “today” while recovering from the hamstring injury

But Smith feels that three decades of not returning to the NFC championship, much less the Super Bowl, used to be unthinkable.

“That part bothers me,” he said about his Eagles fans who mock him about the drought of the cowboys. “It bothers me because in my heart I really believe that our organization should compete for an NFC championship and even a Super Bowl at least one or twice every decade because each team is recycled every decade.

“For us not being there in the last 30 years is a crying shame.”

The cowboys looked like a team destined to make a playoff race during three consecutive seasons of 12-5 of 2021-23. However, Dak Prescott & Co. lost two wildfire games in 2021 and 2023, and fell into the divisional round against the San Francisco 49ers in 2022.

The cowboys have not passed the divisional round since they won it in 1996, a season in which Dallas was 12-4 and Smith ran for 1,204 yards with 12 touchdowns.

The owner of the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, has remained firm in saying that he will do everything possible to improve the list or the coaching staff. But he has been criticized this low season for his hiring by Brian Schottenheimer as the new team chief coach after letting Mike McCarthy go.

McCarthy had led the cowboys since the 2020 campaign. But after a 7-10 season in which the Prescott campaign ended early due to an injury to the hamstrings, they separated.

The cowboys have not been too aggressive in free agency, and all eyes will be in the NFL 2025 draft next week when they choose the 12th in general in the first round.
