An intense postgame interaction over accusations of sign stealing has finally been resolved, Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh said this week.
Saleh, who was the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator at the time, said his beef with Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen is “behind the scenes” after the two had a fierce dispute after a game last season.

The interaction that followed the 49ers’ Week 4 loss to Jacksonville stemmed from Saleh’s comments before the matchup, where he congratulated Coen’s staff for being good at legal “sign-stealing.”

“They legally have a very advanced signal theft system with which they always find a way to put themselves in an advantageous situation,” he said at the time.
The comment sparked a shouting match after the game in which Coen was caught telling Saleh: “Keep my name out of your mouth.” Saleh responded by yelling at Coen, but then explained that he had made a mistake in trying to congratulate the coach.

But less than a year later, the two coaches appear to be on good terms.

“We’re good,” Saleh said during the NFL’s annual league meetings this week. “I know the NFL probably wants more history, but there isn’t any. I appreciate Liam. Like I said, I used the wrong word when I was trying to give him a compliment, but that’s all a thing of the past.”
Coen echoed that sentiment, adding that “we all respect what we do and how we do it in different ways.”

While the dispute between the two has been resolved, the two coaches now become division rivals after Saleh was hired as the Titans’ head coach in January.
