NFL News: The Browns sign Joe Flacco, apparently indicating NFL draft intentions

The Cleveland Browns signed the Marshal Joe Flacco with a one -year contract on Friday, the team announced.

Flacco’s one year contract is $ 4 million and could reach up to $ 13 million with ESPN incentives.

Flacco’s addition could indicate that the Browns will not take a quarterback with selection No. 2 in the next NFL draft.

Flacco, 40, is the second field marshal that the team has acquired this low season. The Browns changed to Kenny Pickett and sent Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth round of 2025 to the Philadelphia Eagles in March.

Flacco, Pickett and Deshaun Watson are the three quarterbacks on the Browns list, but after Watson ran back their Achilles tendon in January, it is expected that it will be lost next 2025 season.

With Tennessee’s Titans, apparently locked in the Miami Cam Ward for Selection No. 1, the Browns would have the winner of the tropheo Heisman Travis Hunter, the star of Penn State Abdul Carter and Shedersur Sanders of Colorado on the board at number 2.

However, with Flacco and Picktt in the fold, the Browns could be more inclined to select Hunter or Carter and wait a year to find their quartback from the future in the NFL draft.

Flacco returns to the Browns after spending last season with the Indianapolis Colts. Flacco appeared in eight games and started in six with a 2-4 record. He launched 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year.

In 2023 with the Browns, Flacco began five games in the regular season instead of the injured Deshaun Watson and helped the team reach the playoffs. In the five openings of Flacco, the team was 4-1, while Flacco completed 60.3% of its passes for 1,616 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Flacco won the player back of the NFL year in 2023.

Flacco is entering its 18th season at the NFL. He spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens and was appointed MVP of the Super Bowl XLVII while taking the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Flacco has played for New York Jets, the Broncos and Colts of Denver, and will now play for the Browns once more.
