The former open receiver of the Raiders of Los Vegas, Henry Ruggs, who turns more than three years in prison for a fatal 2021 DUI accident in Nevada, is training in case an NFL team calls it when it is released, according to a former teammate.
Josh Jacobs, who played for the Raiders at the beginning of his career before signing with the Green Bay Packers, talked about Ruggs in a recent podcast interview.
Ruggs could be put on probation in August 2026, according to Pro Football Talk.

“Keeping it with him and listening to him speak, brings me spirit, because he is always positive,” said the corridor in “The Pivot Podcast.” “He is positive above all. He is training. They let him train and things like that, so I say: ‘When you go out, man, I don’t know if you will have a chance.’
“I have been talking to some people for him. They have been saying that a couple of teams are willing to give him a chance. I am like, ‘when you have that opportunity, man, it is better that no, do not look back, do not show yourself and demonstrate to all that a decision does not define you and who you are as a man'”.

Ruggs was sentenced to more than three years in a prison in Nevada for killing a woman in a burning accident while driving her drunk sports car at speeds of up to 156 mph. The collision also killed the victim’s dog and wounded the fiancee of ruggs. He apologized for his sentence hearing. He declared himself guilty of serious crime that caused death and the minor crime of vehicular murder.
Jacobs said he was supposed to join Ruggs on a first golf trip the night of the accident. He said that “instantly” he got angry when he learned of the situation.
“And then, when I begin to discover more about history and how they were supposed to run, I say: ‘Who was he?’ But he was with his family.

Jacobs said Ruggs is a “good child” in a “very unfortunate situation.”
The Raiders selected Ruggs with Selection No. 12 of Draft 2020. He played two seasons before the mortal shock.
