The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about the possibility of a regular season of 18 games before the Super Bowl Lix in February.
Goodell said there is “a lot of work to do” before expanding the season to 18 games and said it has not had any formal discussion with the union of the players to add a game.
The open receiver of the New York Giants, Darius Slayton, thought that the NFL added a 17th game to the regular season before 2021 was “crazy” and said that it cannot even understand a possible 18th game.

The 28 -year -old open receiver said he would like three things in the next CBA in exchange for the possible incorporation of a 18th regular season game.
The first thing Slayton would like is a change in the proven mechanical performance staircase of the NFL.
The proven mechanical staircase increases the salary for selections of the seventh round of the third through the third round if they reach certain game time thresholds. Players can win that salary salary through the mechanical staircase if they play a minimum of 35% of the offensive or defensive snapshots in their first three seasons.
They can also obtain the salary increase if they average at least 35% game time in their first three seasons. The payment coup comes into force before the player’s fourth season.
However, these salary increases are not guaranteed for players and general managers can play hard and take them, which is what happened to Slayton.

“(The) situation in which I was where they can be retracted (the mechanical staircase). The mechanical staircase is there for the types that enter the league disadvantaged to have the opportunity to earn some money, so why, it makes no sense that it is not (guaranteed). It makes no sense that this can be taken as I win,” said Slayton during a recent appearance in “Nfl Stop. Meirov “. “
“Do not put it there, then, if it is as if you can win it (and then) take it, why put it there? So, should they guarantee”?
Slayton had earned the mechanical staircase since it was a fifth round selection that met the qualifications for the salary increase. However, the general manager of the giants, Joe Schoen, had taken a salary cut to stay with the team and essentially erased his mechanical staircase.
The next change that Slayton would like to see in the CBA is a change in income participation if the NFL adds a game 18.
“If we could get another 1% or 1.5% to know 49 and a half.
The last thing Slayton said he would like is a greater investment of the NFL teams in his training staff to accommodate the additional game.

“The investment of each team in the training personnel and the maintenance of the body as that could definitely be higher in all areas. As for anything, you also need access to keep your body correct or make your body correct as if there could be more money to handle that,” said Slayton.
“I am in a team that really probably does one of the best works in the League. But I know that a fact like just listening to types of the entire league like that could certainly be higher. If you wanted people’s bodies to stay, that is an apartment in which you could pour more money and at least help the men more.”
Slayton said significantly that he does not believe that the NFL should add a second week of rest to the schedule.
“I don’t know about two (goodbye weeks) because just like going after a purchase, it is difficult,” said Slayton.
The NFL data shows that there are more soft tissue injuries after a week of rest, according to Ari Meirov.
Slayton said it depends on the player’s union to fight for these changes.
“That will be in us as a players union and an AP to fight for the things we would need in return if we had to add a game 18, but definitely not, it is certainly not ideal for players,” said Slayton.

The giants selected Slayton with their fifth round selection in the 2019 NFL draft out of Auburn.
In six seasons with the giants, Slayton has 259 trapped with 3,897 yards and 21 touchdowns. Last season, Slayton had 39 trapped for 573 yards and two touchdowns.
Slayton was a free agent in the low season, but remained with the giants with a three -year contract and $ 36 million.
