NFL news: Travis Hunter makes clear the position about wanting to play in both ways

Travis Hunter has a message for NFL teams that would only want them to play on one side of the ball, whether corner or open receiver.

Hunter, 21, won the Heisman trophy after dominating competition as an open and corner receiver. When asked if an NFL team told him that he could only play one position, Hunter said he would prefer not to play at all.

“He will never play football again,” Hunter told CBS Sports last week. “Because I’ve been doing it all my life, and I love being in the football field. I feel that I could master each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it.”

Hunter stood out as a bidirectional player last season while playing an exceptionally high number of photos for Colorado. Last season, Hunter played 713 snapshots in the offensive and 748 snapshots in defense and was still incredibly productive despite the enormous amount of photos.

Hunter had 96 trapped for 1,258 yards with 15 touchdowns as an open receiver, while he had 35 cups with four interceptions, 11 defended passes and a forced loose ball like a corner.

The main NFL draft prospect told CBS Sports that no team has asked him to only play unidirectional, but if a team decides to ask him to play unidirectional in the future, they already have their answer.

Tennessee’s Titans seem locked in taking the Miami Cam Ward field with general selection number 1, which would leave the Cleveland Browns with the opportunity to select Hunter, Pass Star Abdul Carter Pass player or Hunter’s College Shedeur Sanders teammate.

The Browns General Manager, Andrew Berry, talked about the position he sees Hunter as in the NFL Combine in February.

“In terms of Travis Hunter, corner or receiver, the answer is ‘Yes’. You can play both, and I think that is what makes it special.

If Hunter dominates both sides of the ball as he did at the university level, the NFL team that recruits will be very happy.
