NFL News: Vikings criticize messages directed at Isaiah Rodgers

The Minnesota Vikings condemned the vile racist message that defensive back Isaiah Rodgers received following the team’s 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rodgers posted the messages he received from social media users. Several messages he received included racial slurs.

The team released a statement about the incident on Monday.

“We are disgusted by the racial slurs directed at Isaiah Rodgers after yesterday’s game,” the team said. “As we have said before, there is simply no place for racist words or actions in sports or society.

“We stand with Isaiah and all the players who unfortunately experience this type of ignorant and harmful behavior too often, and we ask our fans to continue fighting to eliminate racism.”

Rodgers added that the messages weren’t even the worst he’d seen.

Rodgers was with the Eagles last season when the team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. He joined the Vikings in the offseason.

He has 21 tackles, one interception, one touchdown and two pass deflections in six games this season.
