An NFL insider sounded the alarm Sunday about the growing pressure on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s shoulders as the organization entered a new phase.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on “NFL GameDay Morning” that Tagovailoa may not survive the remainder of the 2025 season as a starter.

“My understanding is there’s a possibility the Dolphins could replace him at quarterback,” Rapoport said. “Now he’s playing to keep his spot. He leads the league with 11 interceptions. If this continues, don’t be surprised later in the season if they turn to one of his backups.”
Tagovailoa’s backups include Zach Wilson and rookie Quinn Ewers.
The Dolphins lost 28-6 to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Lamar Jackson threw four touchdown passes in his return to the field.
Tagovailoa was 25-for-40 with 261 yards and one interception. He was fired twice.

The loss prompted the organization’s decision to part ways with general manager Chris Grier. The move could prompt a series of moves for the Dolphins before the NFL trade deadline. However, Rapoport said it would take a major package for the team to trade for coveted wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Tagovailoa is in his sixth season with Miami. He has 1,779 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes this season. They lost star receiver Tyreek Hill during the season. Darren Waller, who was starting to warm up as a target, will also miss time with an injury.
