A Super Bowl-winning head coach could return to the fray in 2025.
According to NFL Network, teams are keeping an eye on Jon Gruden.
However, it is not as easy as interviewing a football coach; Those teams are apparently doing “extensive homework” on Gruden “as a coach” and “as a person,” considering the controversy that engulfed him a couple of years ago.

Gruden is suing the NFLclaiming he leaked the emails to remove him from his job; he was reported to have sent racist, misogynistic and homophobic emails directed at Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Players Association CEO DeMaurice Smith, among others.
“I am ashamed of what happens in these emails and I will not make excuses for it. It is shameful.” Gruden said in August 2022. “But I’m a good person. I believe it. I go to church. I’ve been married for 31 years. I have three fantastic children. I still love football. I’ve made some mistakes, but I don’t think anyone here hasn’t. And I just ask sorry and I hope to have another chance.”

Despite this, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said he “wouldn’t be at all surprised if Jon Gruden’s name comes up in an interview for a head coaching position in the coming weeks,” via the New York Post.
Gruden, who last coached in the 2021 season after his 10-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders was cut short due to controversy, joined Barstool Sports in November. The New Orleans Saints had reportedly shown interest in Gruden joining the staff last year.
Gruden coached the then-Oakland Raiders to the AFC Championship Game in 2000. In his first year as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he won Super Bowl XXXVII over his former Raiders.
