According to the reports, the San Francisco 49ers have reached an agreement on the first important trade of the low season of the NFL. According to ESPN, All-Pro Debo Samuel will go to the east and play for Washington commanders in 2025.
The 49ers are expected to receive a fifth -round draft selection in exchange for the stars receiver, according to the report. Earlier this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, the general manager of the 49ers, John Lynch, confirmed the reports indicated that Samuel requested an exchange. Lynch said the team planned to “honor” the application.

Samuel spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers after the team selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He obtained the first team’s honors and a Pro Bowl selection after finishing the 2021 season with 1,405 reception yards of 1,405 in his career. Samuel and the Niners reached an agreement on a three -year contract extension after that outstanding season.

Samuel lost two games last season, but experienced a notable fall in production when he was in the football field. The year ended with 670 reception yards and 136 yards by land when San Francisco stumbled upon a disappointing record 6-11.
Samuel spoke with the 49ers chief coach, Kyle Shanahan, about making a team out during the low season, and then had a conversation with Lynch.
“Then, he approached and talked to me and we had a very honest and frank conversation,” Lynch said. “He told us his reasons. I asked him to sit in that, he sleeps in it, and we would do the same. We did it and told him that he could go talk to people.”
Like any other trade agreed now, this agreement cannot be processed until the new year of the League begins on March 12. As part of the agreement, Washington is assuming the rest of Samuel’s contract and paying its full salary of $ 17.55 million for the 2025 season, sources told Schefter.
