- The rumor suggests that an ad could come as soon as next week
- The Z5 II could be a ‘mini z6 III’
- There is no official Nikon word yet
The Nikon Z5 is the most cheaper full frame of the company, but even fans would admit that it has grown a little for a long time in the tooth. Now, five years, it is still a capable performance (and particularly tempting if you can generally pick it up with a great discount), but it is definitely a delayed update.
For a long time it is believed that Nikon will present a Nikon Z5 II this year. And the last rumors suggest that the camera could be announced as soon as next week. Nikon Rumors has published a story that claims so much (although the moment does not become more specific than ‘next week’), along with the interesting detail that its source describes the Z5 II as a ‘Mini Z6 III’, that is, it will come with some technology seen in the excellent Z6 III, which was launched in the summer of 2024.
Nikon’s rumors have no other detail about what to expect from Nikon Z5 II. But we can take some educated assumptions about which updates could be present.
What way could Nikon Z5 II take?
As for the updates, we expect a similar approach to how the Z50 II culture sensor was based on the Z50, which would mean that there are no changes in the resolution. In the case of Z5 II, that means another 24MP full frame sensor and there are no important image quality improvements for users focused on fixed images.
That said, the Z5 II could come with the last system Expede 7 Processor and Autofocus of Nikon, as seen in the Z50 II cultivation sensor. If that is the case, users can expect a much better speed, the automatic detection of theme detection, faster floppy shooting and a powerful video performance.
There could also be an image control button for direct access to color profiles, along with the application compatibility and the option to download creators recipes for different looks. Then, in general, we would expect to see some timely and significant improvements that arrive with Z5 II.
As for the price, we believe that a Z5 II would probably divide the difference between Z5 and Z6 III. Currently, the Z5 with 24-50 mm lens is around $ 1,300 / £ 1,200 in the leading retailers, while the Nikon Z6 III, the following model in the company’s complete picture line, is around $ 2,200 / £ 2,200 only for the body. That means that Z5 II could launch for something like $ 1,700 / £ 1,600 with a basic kit lens.
If the camera is on the route, it is all speculation for now. However, if the rumors are true, we will not have much more to wait for Nikon to deliver the news officially. Are attentive for more.
