- DFC Intelligence estimates that Nintendo Switch 2 could sell 16 million units before the end of the year
- This would cause switch 2
- It also forecasts 100 million units sold at the end of 2029
Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to sell 16 million units for the end of 2025 and 100 million units by the end of 2029.
That is according to the signature of the DFC Intelligence industry, which has just published its new prognosis report, which now seems to be eliminated, for the Nintendo switch before the console launch next month (through Gamespot).
Initially, the firm estimated that Switch 2 would sell 15 million by the end of the year, but now has raised its prognosis to 16 million.
However, he believes that the console could sell up to 20 million “if the manufacture could meet the demand”, but said that this is “unlikely” due to the “conservative approach of the inventory” of Nintendo.
This would turn Switch 2 into the “best -selling console”, surpassing the switch, PS4 and Wii, which took a year to reach the milestone. Nintendo originally predicted 10 million sales for the original change, but their expectations were exceeded when it reached 15 million.
16 million units for the end of 2025 is a bold prediction, but DFC Intelligence also believes that Switch 2 has the potential to sell more than 100 million units at the end of 2029.
“Switch 2, along with the growth of mobile PC game devices, is redefining the video game industry panorama,” he said. “DFC predicts that by the end of 2029, Switch 2 will have sold more than 100 million units, which makes it the leading console system by a wide margin.”
The Nintendo Switch was launched in 2017 and reached 100 million units sold by 2022. If Switch 2 reaches that milestone before the end of 2029, it could exceed the original by a great margin.
Nintendo himself predicts selling 15 million units for the fiscal year. When investors asked him why the sales prognosis is so low, the president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, said that the high cost of the console is a key factor in their predictions, but believes that the backward compatibility of the console and software packages will increase sales before the end of the first fiscal year.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is launched worldwide on June 5, 2025, for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99. The early orders of the United Kingdom and the early orders of the United States are now live.
