A Nintendo Switch 2 owner warns players about buying used physical games after being prohibited by playing without knowing it cloned.
Last month, it was reported that Nintendo was taking energetic measures against piracy and had begun to block access to online services in switch 2 if the players were caught using Mig Flash, a tool used to create copies of the games.
But it seems that even innocent players are not safe from the strict antipiratry policy of the company.
As reported by IGN, Redditor ‘Dmanthey’ shared a publication that said Nintendo prohibited them after loading some original switch games that they bought on Facebook Marketplace.
The user explained that although the physical copies were legitimate, then they discovered that the games had already been copied by the original owner, which was the reason why their console was restricted.
“Change 2 users: Be careful to buy used games 1. It can be prohibited if a bad actor abandoned it,” said ‘Dmanthey’. “I was prohibited and advised after simply downloading patches for 4 Switch 1 games that I bought on Facebook Marketplace.”
Dmonte explained in the thread that without knowing it they played original switch cartridges that were cloning using a device that enables piracy.
“Basically, a thief buys/rent a game. They make a copy for themselves using the Mig Dumper,” said the user. “They resell the original game and maintain a copy for themselves in their MIG. Then, both are prohibited when Switch 2 connects. Only one of you has the cars, so that is the person who will be accelerated.”
Fortunately, Dmanthey was able to let off steam after speaking with Nintendo customer service and providing evidence of his purchase and conversation of the Facebook market seller.
“I contacted Nintendo’s support and discovered that they prohibited me,” they said. “They made me go through the Facebook market list and take some photos of the cartridges. The whole process was painless and fast.”
‘Dmanthey’ added: “The amount of information they had is crazy.”
“They could see my DDWRT final points, the brand of my memory card, they even knew that I had an Evga mouse and a keyboard connected to my 2 switch,” they continued.
Another user faced a similar situation last month after they bought Switch 2 owned by Walmart, just to discover that Nintendo had “barking” after starting it.
