- Nissan will present three new EV by 2026
- The sheet loses its hatchback style, since it is directed to the SUV market
- New Micra will be based on the Renault 5
Despite being among the first to produce a mass market electric car on the original sheet, Nissan has been relatively slow in the electrification of its alignment, with only the ariya offering something fresh in recent years.
That is about to change, since the Japanese company revealed that the next 12 months will be church full of new EV releases. These will include the long -awaited sheet of the third generation of the third generation, as well as an electrical update of the popular Micra and Juke models for Europe.
After the trend of thick and high assembly vehicles, Nissan has chosen to get rid of the traditional hatchback silhouette of the old leaf in favor of a more popular SUV body style. It will share the same basic bases as the ARIYA, which travels on the same CMF-EV platform.
According to Autocar, the head of European products from Nissan, François Bailly, said the company pointed to a range of more than 372 miles, with a key approach to longer trips and an aerodynamic shape that will require less breaks on the roads by covering large distances.
For North America customers, the third generation sheet will come with a NACS load port, which means that customers can use the Tesla supercharging network, far from the outstanding standard of outdated chademo that used the oldest sheet.
To further reinforce its electric line, Nissan also presented a new intelligent version of the tiny and affordable micra, which will be based on the same platform as the Renault 5.
According to Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s global design chief, Electric Micra was always designed to be “more beautiful” than the most aggressive Renault 5, wearing the “rounded puppies”, “he said to Autocar.
It provides the provision of elements of the ultra aggressive concept 20-23 that was revealed, as expected, in 2023. The most obvious of which is the Round Pharmural LED. Although the huge rear wing, the wild body kit and the posture ready for the track seem to have softened a bit.
Analysis: Nissan returns to its innovative roots
I think that even Nissan will agree that in recent years they have been silent for the brand, with an approach to hybrid versions of electronic power of existing models that constitute most of their new ‘exciting’ releases.
Rewind to 2023 and the company was occupied by celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Nissan Design Europe in London with the MADCAP 20-23 concept, as well as promising EVs more creative and innovative, as the company changed towards a fully electrified alignment.
Only now is Nissan doing good in those promises, with two handsome electric vehicles that are designed to be practical, affordable and offer the type of range that means that most owners will not have to commit.
In addition to Micra and Leaf, the company will also present the third generation SUV Juke by 2026, with a style apparently influenced by its angular concept hyper punk of 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
The original Juke encapsulated the brave of the brand, with a polarizing style that combined jet skis elements, motorcycles, sports cars and all kinds of hip design features and succession. It has sold well in Europe for more than a decade and remains an integral part of the Nissan line.
But compared to the tastes of Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot and Citroen, Nissan lacks a modern line of electric and hybrid vehicles that stand out among the crowd. Peugeot, on the other hand, offers nine electric vehicles in Europe that include hatchbacks, SUV, real estate cars and trucks.
When reinforcing its alignment with attractive and affordable electric vehicles that are referred to some of the concepts that have recently excited us, it seems that Nissan is finally returning to its best and best innovative.
