Islamabad:
The Federal Income Board (FBR) clarified on Monday that the deadline for submitting tax statements on fiscal year 2025 will not be extended beyond September 30 (Tuesday), unlike media reports.
In a statement, the Board said that it had noticed unseen reports that circulate on several media platforms, which stated that the deadline for submitting income tax declarations would be extended. He noted that some elements also tried to link this extension perceived with recent floods.
“The Board categorically clarifies that these reports are false, without foundation and deceitful,” said the statement, added that the vast majority of taxpayers reside in areas that are not affected by floods and have had enough time to fulfill their national obligation to submit statements.
The FBR also rejected the reports that suggested that its online tax submission system has decreased, rating them unfounded. “The IRIS is completely operational and works without problems,” said the Board, noting that taxpayers can easily submit their statements using the new Tax Declaration Form on Simplified Income Taxes.
The Board also warned taxpayers that the lack of request for statements before the expiration date will result in a State and penalties of the late film according to the law.
He urged all eligible taxpayers to act in a responsible manner and submit their income tax statements with precision and honesty before the deadline of September 30, 2025 to avoid any legal consequence.
In case of extreme difficulties, taxpayers can take advantage of the extension of the declaration of up to 15 days with the payment of due taxes before September 30 subject to the approval of the relevant committee according to the law.
