Noor Zaman, Nasir Iqbal Secure Silver in the Asian double doubles squad championship


Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal in Pakistan secured a silver medal in the Asian double doubles Squash championship, despite a brave effort in the final on June 26.

The Pakistani duo fought hard but finally lost to the defense champions, Abhay Singh and Velavan senthilkumar from India, who triumphed 9-11, 11-5, 11-5 to retain their title.

The final, held at the Kuching Sports Complex in Malaysia, was a hard matter that lasted 1 hour and 27 minutes.

Although Zaman and Iqbal came out strong, their Indian counterparts regrouped after the first set to claim a victory in the remaining two, sealing gold for India.

Pakistan’s trip was impressive, with Zaman and Iqbal defeating Malaysia in the semifinals in a tense battle of three games.

The couple triumphed 10-11, 11-9, 11-9 in a contest that lasted an hour and eight minutes, surpassing Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee to reserve their place in the final. Previously, they had delivered another exciting performance to overcome Korea in the quarterfinals, winning 11-3, 5-11, 11-4 against Jiang Min Ryu and Jaijin Yoo.

In the group stages, the Pakistani couple exhibited an excellent shape, ensuring a place in the knockout rounds with an integral victory over the Chinese taipei.

Zaman and Iqbal sent Chi Yu-Wei and Chen Ching-Fu 11-2, 11-9 in just 11 minutes to guarantee the qualification.

As a second seed in the tournament, the Pakistan team showed consistency from the beginning, with dominant victories about the Philippines (11-7, 11-4) and South Korea. His performance throughout the championship demonstrated his potential in the doubles pumpkin at the Asian level.

Individually, Zaman had previously competed in the Individual Asian Squash Championship, where he was eliminated in the finals of the Finals of Malaysia, Joachim Chuah, after a five -game thriller.
