iOS 26 is now being implemented to compatible iPhones, but the switch to the new Apple liquid glass interface has left some users feeling a bit sore in the head.
“The glass design makes it look heavy and mentally exhausting,” wrote a Reddit user, while another complained: “I was dizzy just looking at him.”
While I am not ready to condemn the new design to the pile ‘flop’ still, I can understand frustration. The liquid glass gives the menus and interface elements a transparent quality, similar to a glass; iOS 26 is a great change, and one that will take time to get used to.
However, if you are sure that the default appearance of liquid glass is not for you, there are a couple of ways in which you can reduce your intensity.
Increase contrast
First, mitigate the effects of liquid glass without completely By eliminating them, there is a practice option to ‘increase contrast’ in the configuration. To find it, go to Settings, accessibility, screen and text size, then alters the increase contrast slider.
This option makes its name: the contrast goes up, so the interface elements are more defined. Increasing the contrast maintains translucence, but eliminates the softness of liquid glass, giving the icons a more visible edge.
See the image above to have an idea of what I mean: the change is particularly notable in the control center.
Reduce transparency
The second option, more drastic, is to reduce transparency, which eliminates almost all the translure of iOS 26.
To turn it on, Go to the same configuration page (configuration> accessibility> screen size and text), then alternate the transparency reduction option.
Again, the control center is a good place to see this change in action. In both images (above), I have accessed the control center from the home screen, but the home screen is only visible in the first image (when transparency reduces is not enabled). When reduced transparency is enabled, the background appears as a block color.
Both together
Yes you In fact I do not like liquid glass, it can alternate both options mentioned (increasing contrast and reducing transparency) simultaneously. This provides the most clear edges and eliminates translucence, making everything much clearer.
For me, this combination is too much, but I am going to give the three options (predetermined liquid window, increase contrast and reduce transparency) an attempt for a prolonged period to see which one I prefer.
