ISLAMABAD:

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar on Monday stated that the formal notification for the appointment of the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) will be issued in due time, assuring that “no one has anything to worry about.”

Speaking to The Express PAkGazette after attending a photo exhibition organized by the Federal Ombudsman for Protection from Harassment, he said the notification process was routine and was awaiting the return of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “Once the prime minister comes, everything should be finished,” he said.

Tarar suggested that much of the paperwork could already be completed, noting that the Ministry of Defense would move forward once coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office was finalized. He stressed that there were no administrative obstacles in the process.

Earlier, addressing participants in the exhibition, he said the concept behind the event was significant, explaining that artists from across the country were invited to paint on the subject and that the creation of such images also required society to provide appropriate remedies.

She said no nation could progress by keeping half its population confined at home, arguing that efforts to address social problems enabled women to advance rather than hold them back, and urging society to adopt positive behavioral change.

Tarar said attitudes need to change, adding that women deserve the same respect shown to mothers and sisters within families. He emphasized the need for laws that defend social structures and ensure sanctions for violations.

He said society must reflect on itself and encourage its daughters, recalling Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s words that no nation could progress until men and women “worked together, side by side, with equal opportunities”.

The minister noted that more women are now pursuing studies than in previous decades and said their professional capacities must be fully utilized, pointing to the formation by the prime minister of working groups aimed at empowering women.

She said legal reforms were introduced in the past two years to ensure women received fair access to employment and safer workplaces, adding that such measures strengthened long-term social and economic stability.

On the occasion, awards were presented to the three best artists who participated in the exhibition, which was held by FOSPA as part of the 16-day global campaign to eliminate violence against women and promote safer communities.
