- CPU Mediatek and Memory Fuse with GPU NVIDIA in the GB10 SUPERCHIP collaboration
- Strategic Reliance causes NVIDIA speculation pursued by the acquisition of Mediatek of $ 73 billion
- Apart from the regulatory obstacles, GB10 shows the transformative potential of its association
The role of Mediatek at the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip in Nvidia has become clear in a new presentation, then should the Chief of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, consider an acquisition of $ 73 billion of the Taiwanese company?
The GB10, originally defeated in July 2025 but delayed, is presented as a mixture of the CPU and Mediatek memory designs with the Nvidia GPU experience.
By relying on the experience of the MediaTk Chip system, Nvidia has been able to demonstrate how industry’s standard interfaces and protocols can link its Blackwell GPU with a compact and efficient package.
An acquisition makes a lot of sense
That collaboration, formally recognized in the presentation, is what leads me to speculate on a deeper corporate link.
Nvidia has shown the will to obtain great acquisitions in the past, as its failed offer of $ 40 billion for ARM in 2022.
Regulators blocked that agreement, citing competition concerns, and a similar challenge would probably face any attempt to buy MediaTak.
The Taiwan government could also be reluctant to see one of its most valuable semiconductor signatures acquired by an American company.
Even so, Nvidia’s dependence on Mediatek in GB10 highlights the strategic importance of the association.
MediaTak is an important player in the Smart Telephone SOCs, and with NVIDIA with the aim of expanding chips based on arms in laptops and game devices, being the owner of the company could give it technology and experience in the supply chain.
With an estimated assessment of $ 73 billion, acquiring MediaTk would not be cheap, but Nvidia could certainly afford it, given its rapid increase in market capitalization.
At the moment, GB10 is a great example of what the two technological giants can achieve when they work together.
Combine 20 CPU ARM V9.2 nuclei, Blackwell -based graphic nuclei with 31 FP32 performance tflops, and up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5x memory in a double access package in the TSMC N3 process.
Regardless of whether Nvidia entertain or not in the acquisition of MediaTak, the GB10 confirms that the two companies are already closely linked both in technology and strategy.
