- NymVPN just released a new update that adds split tunneling for macOS
- The update also includes a quality of life improvement related to login.
- NymVPN also launched an Alpha testing program for testers
NymVPN has just released a new update that brings the app to version v2026.6. The patch covers a few different features.
The most notable thing is the incorporation of split tunneling for macOS. Currently in beta, split tunneling comes to Mac devices after being released in the NymVPN Android VPN app version. Additionally, there are new improvements for secure authentication and a smoother login process.
NymVPN is still in its infancy, but while it may not exactly compete with the best VPNs yet, the continuous streak of updates bodes well. Here’s what’s new in today’s batch of updates and how you can join Nym’s Alpha testing group to help make the product the best it can be.
What’s new in the latest NymVPN update?
The largest addition in the The new NymVPN patch is definitely the arrival of split tunnel for macOScurrently in beta version.
This allows you to choose which apps go through the VPN tunnel and which connect directly to the Internet. Split tunneling can help keep sensitive traffic protected over the VPN while allowing other applications to maintain their connection for speed, compatibility, or access to local services.
To try split tunneling on macOS, you’ll need to grant full disk access permission to view and select which apps will benefit.
The update also adds a Smoother login flow from app to web through deep links. Instead of repeatedly relying on Nym’s 24-word mnemonic passphrase to access account information on the web, you can now generate a secure code directly from the app.
Furthermore, Nym claims that he has enhanced secure authentication based on recommendations from a 2025 Cure53 audit, although it notes that some macOS authentication changes will still be implemented in a later version. Just note that if you’re using Linux, you’ll need to install Policykit-1-gnome to take advantage of this enhanced authentication.
More minor updates include new diagnostic tools for android, optimized encoding for DNS resolution on all versions of NymVPN, and various improvements on both macOS and Android.
How to join the NymVPN alpha testing program
If you want to actively help the NymVPN team shape the future of the app before features roll out more widely, Nym is opening the doors through a alpha testing program. You can join the community testing group, where builds are shared early and tested together with developers.

Nym has been releasing frequent updates over the past few months, gradually filling in the gaps and improving usability across all of its apps.
Previous versions focused on anti-censorship features and general usability improvements, but also highlighted missing pieces, especially for Apple users. With the arrival of split tunneling on macOS, Nym is starting to deliver the features it had previously promised.
The company also recently shared its two-year roadmap, outlining how it hopes its privacy protection features can outperform all existing VPNs by 2027.
