- NymVPN Latest Update Features New UI and Bug Fixes
- A new simplified static DNS makes it easier to bypass network restrictions
- The update is now available, but Apple users have to wait a little longer
NymVPN has just released its latest software update, bringing some much-needed quality of life improvements and stronger anti-censorship tools to the privacy-focused provider. However, if you rely on Apple hardware to keep you safe online, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
The recently released v2026.5 patch focuses heavily on giving users better visibility over their data consumption and eliminating some frustrating software bugs. But the most interesting addition for privacy purists is the quiet overhaul of the service’s domain name system (DNS) infrastructure, which is designed to keep users connected even in highly restricted regions.
The launch came just days after the vendor outlined its ambitious two-year roadmap, detailing plans to transition to pure UDP and increase mixnet speeds up to five times faster. Since NymVPN aims to compete with the best VPN services on the market, this latest update acts as a solid stepping stone towards that broader 2026 vision.

Data visualizations and bugs fixed
One of the most immediate changes you will notice is the new data usage interface. The revamped user interface gives you a clear display of exactly how much data you’ve consumed and how much is left on your current plan.
This visual update comes along with a crucial solution for a widely reported failure. Previously, an erroneous warning message told users that their “bandwidth limit” had been reached, completely blocking their access to the VPN until they added more data. The vendor has officially fixed the bug, noting: “This has been fixed, meaning refills of the Nym team are no longer needed!”
The update is also useful diagnostic tools between its different clients. Windows and Linux users get a new logging tool to streamline bug reporting, while on iOS an option to share the bug log has been added.
“Consider turning it on so the Nym team can better identify and troubleshoot issues you encounter with your NymVPN app,” the provider said, assuring users that “all data shared is anonymous.”
Greater resistance to Apple censorship and delays
While the bug fixes are welcome, the heavy lifting of this update happens under the hood.
NymVPN has updated its DNS routing to offer a “more optimized interaction with the static DNS underpinning the HTTP client to improve censorship resistance.” In short, VPN should now be even harder to block for restrictive networks and authoritarian firewalls.

Unfortunately, not everyone can play with the new tools right away. Android, Windows, and Linux users can update immediately, but Apple fans face frustrating delays.
The iOS update is currently stuck in Apple’s notoriously slow App Store review process. Things are a little more complicated for Mac users. The macOS update was delayed because “more testing was needed on a major new feature.” According to Nym, the delayed version of macOS is “coming soon this week.”
Other minor tweaks in the patch include fixes for a crash bug on Android when switching languages and an alternate login display issue patched for Linux.
