NYT Connections Today (game #696) – The answers
The responses to today’s connections, game #696 are …
- Yellow: does not include In addition, but, except, except
- Green: improves, like a broken bone Heal
- Blue: Arcana minor tarot costumes Cups, pentacles, swords, wands
- Purple: homophones of precious stones Coral, Opel, Purl, rooms
- My qualification: Hard
- My score: Fail
Today’s round of connections was incredibly difficult, so congratulations to anyone who has received it.
The only group I managed to find was the easiest yellow. Even with this I had uncertainty about inclusion, which did not seem to coincide with the other three words.
However, I staggered for the other three groups. I suspected that Pentacles had something to do with witchcraft, so I tried to conjure some group with wands and supply others.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of the tarot cards, much less the members of the minor Arcana costumes. This feels a lot of knowledge of a blue group.
My other blind alley was thinking that the cups and rooms were in a group of measures and that there were some terms of knitting beyond Knit and Perl.
A complete disaster. I hope you have done better.

What are NYT connections?
Nyt Connections is one of the several increasingly popular words games made by the New York Times. It challenges him to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple generally very difficult.
On the positive side, he technically does not need to solve the end, since he can answer it for an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some space to breathe.
However, it is a bit more involved than something like Wordle, and there are many opportunities for the game to move you with tricks. For example, be careful with homophones and other words games that could disguise the answers.
It is playable for free through the Nyt Games site in desktop or mobile.
