NYT Strands Today (game #397) – The answers
The responses to today’s threads, game #397, are …
- CONCRETE
- HARDWOOD
- LINOLEUM
- LAMINATE
- Terrazo
- Spangram: Floor
- My qualification: Moderate
- My score: 2 tracks
The beauty of the threads is that it makes you think about things that you would not normally think, such as the search for floors today.
There is a city not far from where I live in London called Staines: they have renamed as Staines-on-Thames because a) think that it sounds more elegant than Staines and b) Sacha Baron Cohen based their character in the city and is not something that they are proud.
However, what they are proud of is that the linoleum made in Staines was once worldwide famous and exported throughout the world. What will be in the south of Tuscanny is for marble, the spots in northwestern Surrey is solidified flaxseed oil. There is a beautiful statue in the city center of two men who carry a roll. A very rare example, at least in the United Kingdom, of a statue that honors working people instead of a specialty on a horse.
Despite my deep love for linen, and in a specific fact (something that my father used to tell me that he was made his head), I struggled with the search for today and needed a couple of clues to start. You could say that it was stunned.
How did you do it today? Avise me in the comments below.
