In my ignorance, I thought we were looking for female game characters, and not being familiar with the characters of male and female games, I thought that Lynx (who obtained from a track) sounded like a possibility.
It was not until I hit the spangram that the penny fell and I realized that we were looking for names of WNBA teams to coincide with the beginning of the 2025 season.
Today’s search did not include the most recently named and newer team to join the League: the Golden State Valkies.
In Nordic mythology, a Valkyrie (which means ‘selector of the murdered’) is a female figure that guides souls of the dead for the god Odin’s Hall Valhalla. I don’t know how this translates into basketball skill, but it sounds good. Maybe they will arrive at the court in a long boat.
