NYT Strands Today (Game #628): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #628 are…
- ALIGN
- PIVOT
- INTERRUPT
- LIAISE
- SCALE
- DEVISE
- SPANGRAM: CORPORATE SPEECH
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 2 tracks
In the past, I once found myself as a board member of a short-lived, dysfunctional startup that had somehow managed to steal some investments from a couple of gullible billionaires.
During that time, I attended many meetings where words like DISRUPT and IDEATE were thrown around, without anyone really knowing what they meant.
Finally, I realized that what they meant didn’t matter; It’s just that they made the person saying them seem like they knew what they meant.
Anyway, I digress. Let’s talk about today’s Strands. Despite my familiarity with CORPORATESPEAK, I had a hard time getting started and followed a couple of suggestions.
ALIGN and PIVOT got me going, but I found it difficult to get all my buzzwords in a row.
By the way, if you’re ever in a meeting and you hear someone say PIVOT, then you’re in big trouble. It usually means that the company is headed toward bankruptcy.
