NYT Strands Today (Game #685): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 685 are…
- DRAT
- CURSES
- VIOLIN STICKS
- TARNATION
- PHOOEY
- SPANGRAM: FAILED AGAIN
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
I love polite bad words. If you hear someone curse “fudge” or “sugar”, first of all it’s very funny, but secondly it’s also useless because everyone knows what you’re really trying to say.
Maybe a better option is to think of something a little more creative, like calling someone the son of an anteater or yelling peanuts at them when they accidentally get hurt. There’s a brilliant story that a British journalist named Jon Ronson wrote about how his son asked him what the worst swear word in the world was, and he randomly responded “limone”; It worked, for a while, until one day he came home from school and called his father a very, very rude word for lying to him.
Anyway, I digress. A great and fun quest that luckily I didn’t get FAILED AGAIN.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Friday, January 16, game #684)
- JOKER
- ROBIN
- CAPE
- LORDSHIP
- JUSTICE
- PENGUIN
- REVENGE
- SPANGRAM: BATMAN
