Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Saturday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Saturday, February 14 (Game #713).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.
SPOILER WARNING: Today’s NYT Strands info is below, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know the answers.

NYT Strands Today (Game #714): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 714 are…
- GRASP
- APPREHEND
- FATHOM
- UNDERSTAND
- REALIZE
- SPANGRAM: SEE THE LIGHT
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 1 track
Z’s in words where we would have S’s (as in today’s REALIZE) are a problem for Strands players in the UK, but that’s no excuse for my slow play today (that may have more to do with the hangover I’m suffering from).
“Now I understand!” are the words I often say to myself when I finally UNDERSTAND the topic of the day, but today I didn’t understand it at all and took a hint after finding half a dozen non-game words.
The word GRAB helped me, erm, grasp the quest at hand, although I’d say understand may have fit this game better than LEARN, but my fields of perception are decidedly blurred.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Saturday, February 14, game #713)
- ENCOMPASS
- TIGHTEN
- BANG
- PECK
- SMOOCH
- HUG
- SPANGRAM: HUGS AND KISSES
