NYT Strands Today (Game #720): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 720 are…
- CALLS
- PARADE
- FLAG
- ATHLETE
- HYMN
- MEDAL
- SPANGRAM: CLOSING CEREMONY
- My rating: Easy

The Olympic flame goes out today, before being lit again for the start of the Paralympic Winter Games in 12 days.
Today’s spangram imitated the shape of an Olympic torch (or possibly someone with a skeleton, it’s hard to say) and included the many rituals that appear in a typical CLOSING CEREMONY or MEDAL presentation.
A notable absence in this search were speeches, something of which there is too much in Olympic ceremonies and which, like today’s spangrams, are unnecessarily long.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Saturday, February 21, game #719)
- HOP
- BARLEY
- WATER
- MALTA
- FLAVOR
- YEAST
- SUGAR
- WHEAT
- SPANGRAM: HOMEMADE
