My first thought was that we’d be looking for things that go in circles, like roundabouts or motorsports tracks, but after getting FOIL while searching for non-game words, I thought these were things wrapped in cardboard tubes.
I changed my mind when I got the spangram and then the SCARF and realized it was more about wrapping in general.
Ah well, sometimes you just have to move on.

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new word game, after Wordle and Connections. It is now a full member of the NYT Games group that has been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
