A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Saturday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Saturday, October 18 (Game #594).

NYT Strands Today (Game #595): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 595 are…
- DIP
- GELATIN
- BUTTER
- CIDER
- COMPOTE
- strudel
- FRITTER
- SPANGRAM: APPLES
- My rating: Hard
- My score: Perfect
When I heard my first two words, SAUCE and JELLY, I didn’t know anything and initially thought we were looking for different types of condiments.
Getting BUTTER didn’t help much either, but I went ahead and resisted using a hint. A good thing, as CIDER finally made me see that APPLES was the connection, confirmed by the thankfully brief spangram.
As this game demonstrates, APPLES are right up there with potatoes as a cheap, versatile product that you can do dozens of things with.
In the battle for what’s best, apples may win thanks to the wonder that is apple pie, but potatoes will always have chips. Hmmm… I can feel the release of a Netflix documentary approaching…
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Saturday, October 18, game #594)
- DETOUR
- CLOSING
- ALARM
- CLIMATE
- CONSTRUCTION
- SPANGRAM: RUNNINGLATE
