Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Tuesday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Tuesday, October 21 (Game #597).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.
Want more word-based fun? Then check out my NYT Connections Today and Quordle Today pages for tips and answers for those games, and Marc’s Wordle Today page for the original viral word game.
SPOILER WARNING: Today’s NYT Strands info is below, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know the answers.

NYT Strands Today (Game #598): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 598 are…
- BATTERY
- COIN
- PENCIL
- CORD
- BUG
- TAPE
- SPANGRAM: GARBAGE DRAWER
- My rating: Hard
- My score: Perfect
As I was slowly finding all these words, I was wondering: what is the connection between all these random things? It wasn’t until I finally got the spangram that I realized that those random things was the connection.
Every house has a JUNKDRAWER, although I believe ours contains several, one dedicated solely to cables that may or may not belong to devices that were thrown away many years ago, but the cables were preserved.
The others contain similar items to today’s quest, roughly categorized as “may be useful one day”, although we all know they never will be and if the day comes when you need a radiator key, a SHOE LACE or a PENCIL you won’t be able to find it in the GARBAGE DRAWER and will instead go out and buy a new one.
A very complicated game to detect the theme, but not too complicated in terms of searching and completion. All in all, very much like finding exactly what I was looking for in JUNKDRAWER: oddly satisfying.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Tuesday, October 21, Game #597)
- OPENER
- SCENERY
- BIS
- HEADER
- GOODS
- SPANGRAM: LIVE CONCERT
