Khushdil also received three points of demerit. This was his first offense in a period of 24 months.
The incident occurred during the eighth on Pakistan’s entrances, when Khushdil hit the third ball of Foulkes beyond half. He ran into the bowling player, who turned his back towards him, with his left shoulder. The referee had a word with Khushdil after the hitters ran two.
Since Khushdil accepted the sanctions level by the referees and referee Jeff Crowe, a formal audience was not needed.
Khushdil scored for Pakistan with 32 of 30 balls in the first T20I, but had little support from the other end, since they were wrapped for 91. The Tim Seifert and Finn Allen openers helped New Zealand pursue the target at 10.1 overs to give them a 1-0 advantage.
