According to the reports, Octavio Dotel, who won a world series with the Cardinals of San Luis in 2011, was inside a nightclub in the Dominican Republic when the ceiling collapsed.
The former MLB pitcher was taken from the debris at the Jet Set Set Domingo nightclub in Santo Domingo, according to the New York Post.

Seven seven, including singer Rubby PĂ©rez, were also rescued, local media reported.

More than two dozen people died and another 160 were injured in the early Dominican capital on Tuesday when the iconic nightclub where politicians, athletes and others attended a meringue concert, authorities told Associated Press.

Almost 12 hours after the top of the nightclub collapsed over customers, rescue teams still took out the survivors of the rubble. In the scene, firefighters used broken concrete blocks and sawn pieces of wood to lift heavy rubble while the noise of the exercises that broke the concrete filled the air.
It was not clear immediately what caused the roof to collapse.

Jet Set issued a statement by saying that he was cooperating with the authorities.
“The loss of human life leaves us in a state of deep pain and dismay,” he said.
Dotel played for 13 MLB teams during his career in the major leagues of 15 years. He made his debut with the New York Mets and appeared for the last time in a game with Detroit’s Tigers in 2013.
The pitcher was a member of the Cardinals team that defeated the Texas Rangers in the seven -year -old game 2011.
