- A new OLED steam hardware mode updates RAM from 16 GB to 32 GB
- Slickbuys mods and repairs show a tutorial on how the process works
- It implies welding and biography programming, not intended for beginners
Valve’s Steam Deck has experienced numerous updates in hardware and software levels, with unofficial modifications such as Dicky Loader and, of course, the OLED steam cover, which offers a faster screen and a better battery life. However, there is an unofficial hardware mod that would suggest staying away, unless you know what you are doing.
As reported by Videocardz, the Steam Deck Oled RAM can now be updated at 32 GB of 16 GB, thanks to Slickbuys Mods and Repires, which exhibited the process in a YouTube video (available below).
The modification is aimed at improving the game’s performance, with more memory assigned to the games, ultimately reducing stuttering and falls in frame speed in certain games. However, it is an extremely delicate process that I would not recommend trying unless it is familiar with welding and bios modifications.
I would also need to find and buy a 32 GB memory chip that is suitable for the OLED model, which is expensive, such as slickbuys modes and repairs they use in the video costs $ 110 (around £ 82 / au $ 170).
Then, you must eliminate the original chip and weld the new. Perhaps the worst aspect of this is that it requires a firmware block, which means that you can never update your steam dealer, since doing so will erase the configuration and reverse the RAM to 16 GB.

Attend
I think reading that should only be enough to dissuade most of you to even try the process. It would be much easier to go and buy a new hand computer completely, such as the Asus Rog Ally X, than to risk destroying your hand computer forever.
Fortunately, if interested, the service can be done through mods and repairs of slickbuys, but it is worth noting that it is not yet available, and it will probably be expensive.
ANALYSIS: Please don’t do this … just buy a new hand computer
I am sure that I will not be the first to warn him not to do this, since it is very easy for something to go wrong during this process, unless it is well versed when it comes to welding and BIOS programming. Even if it is (or does it through a service), it is still too early to see how this will work in the long term in terms of terms and battery duration.
You could miss updates from new and important stems in the future. It does not mean that you can never Update your steam deck again, but you are only ready to repeat the BIOS programming process again later.
I have been very critical of recent recent hand prices, but I would still choose to buy new about this. After all, I do not believe that the update is significant enough to justify running the risk, since it only applies to specific situations or games that need more RAM for better frame or stability speeds in the framework.
There are no signs that a successor to the steam cover is released in the short term, despite recent rumors, but I would recommend continuing with its OLED model or making the leap into the new Lenovo Legion Go S.
