Speed skater Kamila Sellier suffered a cut above her left eye after another competitor’s sword hit her during the 1,500 meters on Friday at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
The Polish athlete was on the short track when she fell behind American skater Kristen Santos-Griswold, whose sword hit Sellier near her eye.
Both Santos-Griswold and Sellier slid on the ice and crashed into the wall, but Sellier remained motionless as medics rushed to his side.

The bloody scene was covered up by other staff members.
She was eventually restrained on a stretcher, but gave a thumbs up as she was taken away.
Polish officials said Sellier’s eye was fine. She received stitches in the sand before being taken to a hospital for further tests.
Sellier posted a selfie on Instagram, hiding the left side of his face, saying he was “pretty good.”

“I know one day I will look at this photo and remember that I am stronger than I ever thought. Thank you for all your words of support, I just wanted to let you know that I am doing pretty well,” Sellier wrote.
Santos-Griswold was penalized for attempting an illegal pass that contributed to the collision.
The 25-year-old was competing for her first Olympic medal after taking home a silver and bronze at last year’s World Championships in Beijing.

According to the BBC, the Polish speed skating team is awaiting word on whether there has been “any sign of damage” to his eye.
