The famous American Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton went to her recent DUI arrest for the first time on Tuesday.
Retton was arrested on May 17 in West Virginia when the police responded to the reports of a car traveling “all over the road.” In a statement provided to Pak Gazette Digital by Rateton’s lawyer, Edmund J. Roll, the gold medalist admitted to having conducted under the influence and apologized.
“I assume all the responsibility of my actions,” said the statement. “What happened was completely unacceptable. I do not put excuses. For my family, friends and my fans: I have disappointed you, and that’s why I feel deeply.
“I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I really appreciate your concern, breath and continuous support.”

Retton also appeared to a concept without concept, and a Marion County judge fined his $ 100, according to Roll.

Retton was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances or drugs on May 17, according to the records of the Marion County Court. It was released from jail after publishing a personal recognition bonus of $ 1,500.
Retton was nicknamed “America’s Sweetheart” during his winning performance of the gold medal at the 1984 summer games in Los Angeles. He was only 16 when he scored perfect 10 years in the exercise of the floor and the vault in the two final rotations to become the first American woman to win the general Olympic title.
He obtained five medals that year: one gold, two silver and two bronze.
After retiring from the gymnastics, Retton became a motivating speaker and often shared messages on the benefits of adequate nutrition and exercise.

Retton was diagnosed with a “rare form of pneumonia” in 2023, and his family said at the time he was “fighting for his life.” She was admitted to an intensive care unit when doctors helped her fight the disease.
“This is serious, and this is life, and I am very grateful to be here,” said NBC’s “Today” in 2024. “I’m lucky to be here because there was a time when they were about to put a life support.”
