Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub said the party is assessing the government’s intentions in the newly formed negotiation committee, as talks between the two sides began.
“Today is the first round of negotiations; We will see what happens,” Ayub told reporters outside the court, Express News reported.
“We will also evaluate the government’s sincerity in this process.”
Ayub clarified that there had been no recent meetings between the PTI negotiation team and the party founder, and stressed that any perceived disagreements were unfounded.
“There are no divisions between us,” he said.
Ayub revealed that he had tried to meet the party founder earlier but was arrested the same day.
Provisional bail is approved
Earlier, the Peshawar High Court granted Ayub provisional bail till January 20. The single bench, headed by Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, heard the PTI leader’s plea for protective bail amid fears of arrest.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that an FIR had been registered against Ayub at Ramna Police Station, Islamabad, and his client wanted to appear before the relevant courts without risking arrest.
The court granted bail, giving Ayub the opportunity to attend the proceedings without hindrance.
