The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Omar Ayub, criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accusing him of just being ready for negotiations when an ‘order’ arrives, said Express News.
In statements to the media outside an anti -terrorism court in Sargodha on Friday, he described the role of prime minister as that of a “server or employee”, claiming that he has no real power.
Ayub declared that PTI came to power through the public’s mandate, but pointed out government policies as the main cause of growing inflation. He also declared that the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) would probably accept water distribution agreements at the expense of the town of Sindh.
The PTI leader also expressed a strong disapproval of the recent amendments to the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Law (Peca), stating that the Government is slowing freedom of expression.
He accused PPP of hypocrisy, noting that, although the party once opposed the PCA law, it has now silenced the matter. He said that the notion of press freedom or even freedom of expression in Pakistan has ceased to exist, with media staff who cannot speak or write freely.
Ayub also said that PTI does not house the hopes of the United States or the United Kingdom, particularly in the context of Pakistan’s political crisis.
He requested that article 6 be invoked against former Electoral Commissioner Chief Sikandar Sultan Raja, accusing him of helping current rulers to appear in the elections.
In addition, Ayub stressed that despite PTI’s repeated appearances in court, they are not clear about the charges against him.
He also criticized the government’s inaction, saying that his letter requesting the formation of a parliamentary committee had not yet received a response from the prime minister. He promised that PTI would not allow the matter to be delayed more.
