The opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, criticized the economic policies of the federal government directed by PML-N, describing them as a recipe for the complete destruction of the national economy.
In his speech during the session of the National Assembly Budget on Friday, Omar, which belongs to the PTI, labeled the current budget as a false statistics document and questioned where the declared GDP figures come from.
He pointed out that all crop yields have decreased, the agricultural sector is in decline.
Omar compared the current situation with that of April 2022, when the PTI government was expelled through a vote of distrust. He affirmed that unemployment has now reached 22% and 6.2 million educated young people are wandering out of unemployment.
He blamed the “PDM-1 and PDM-2 governments” for crushing the poor by imposing indirect taxes that amount to RS42,500 billion. ‘
An alliance of opposition parties, the democratic movement of Pakistan (PDM), entered into power after the expulsion of the PTI government in April 2022. The current ruling coalition is also sometimes also described as a continuation of the first PDM government, which was also directed by Shehbaz Sharif.
The opposition leader accused the Government of begging the IMF packages and said that $ 48 billion have been sent abroad through foreign agents.
“The RS6.5 billion budget deficit will be financed by loans from commercial banks, which will reduce loan capacity for the public, turning Pakistan into an economic cemetery,” he added.
He said that large -scale industries have been hired by 1.5%, while during the PTI mandate, industries expanded to the point where workers were not even available in Faisalabad, Omar said.
The opposition leader alleged that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has more power than even the prime minister and the viceprimer minister.
“Naqvi, while working as the main minister of the Punjab caregiver, imported the low quality wheat of Ukraine, while coined RS450 billion in the bargain. Naqvi carries out the shares, the government is to blame,” he added.
When some government ministers, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Attaullah Tarar, laughed at his comments, Omar said: “This laugh showed that Mohsin Naqvi really controls them.”
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf of PPP declared that during the recent conflict of Pakistan-India, the Pakistan army and La Nación responded decisively, showing India that the Pakistani nation is not divided but united in defense. He praised military leadership, including the field marshal also, for his commendable actions.
He commented that while the opposition criticizes the budget, the government highlights its positive aspects. Each government must present a good budget to gain public support, but given the circumstances, difficult decisions should be made.
“The current government made difficult decisions and sacrificed political popularity to save the country of bankruptcy,” he added.
When addressing the Assembly, Aqeel Malik de PML-N said that, instead of giving constructive proposals on the budget, the opposition only requires the release of arrested individuals.
