The initiative, called Ondo Catalyst, aims to invest in protocols and infrastructure projects that improve the development of tokenized finance and capital markets in the chain, according to a blog post on Thursday by Ondo.
The initiative will make a combination of capital investments and Token, said a representative from Ondo to Coindesk in a telegram message.
“The financial system is experiencing a fundamental update,” said Nathan Allman, founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, in the blog post. “By supporting infrastructure and applications that unlock the useful of the real world for tokenized assets, we are helping to remodel how capital moves all over the world.”
Tokenization is one of the fastest growing cryptographic use cases and has captivated large banks, Fintechs, asset administrators and native cryptography companies alike. The process aims to bring traditional financial instruments, such as bonds, shares and real estate, often called RWAS, to Blockchain rails, promising more efficient operations, faster agreements and 24 hours, access to broader investors and programmable transactions. For example, Robinhood, Bybit, Kraken and Gemini have recently introduced trade with tokenized versions of US actions, while Blackrock and Franklin Templeton issue token tokenized market funds backed by the United States Treasury in the short term.
Ondo is one of the US Treasury Issuers. The company is also developing a layer 1 block chain network designed for Tokenized RWAS.
