One dead, 24 injured in Lodhran’s train accident


LAHORE:

A passenger was killed and another 24 injured when Awami Express found an accident at Lodhran Junction due to the brake failure.

The train was heading to Karachi from Peshawar; However, when he arrived in Lodhran Junction between Saturday night and Sunday, the train engine derailed and five coaches overturned.

The deceased was identified as Waqas, son of Allah Ditta de Khushab. Among the injured are women, children and young people.

The injured were transferred to the new district hospital. District administration, rescue resources, police and others were involved in help activities.

The attached commissioner Dr. Lubni Nazir visited the district hospital and issued instructions to provide the best medical facilities to patients immediately. District administrations also establish a relief camp near the railway station.

Railroad Minister Hanif Abbasi also ordered an investigation into the incident and expressed his pain for the death of the deceased passenger. He said that anyone declared guilty of negligence will be taken to the task.

DS Railways said the accident claimed the life of a passenger and left another 24 injured. He said the passengers were housed on the Rehman Baba train to drop them into their destinations.
