At least one person was killed and seven others injured on Sunday in an explosion targeting a passenger bus traveling from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi, according to officials.
Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti reported that the bus, which was heading along the M-8 highway, was hit near Khori, approximately 25 kilometers from Khuzdar town.
The injured, including the bus driver who is in critical condition, were rushed to Khuzdar Trauma Center for treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted inside a car parked near the road. Following the incident, police, including police and border force personnel, cordoned off the area to begin their investigation.
Security measures were intensified throughout Khuzdar and its surrounding areas in response to the attack, officials added.
