- The Kanto Obi3 launches for $199 / £179 (around AU$300).
- Bluetooth 5.3 for speakers and headphones
- Minimalist design with two-speed belt drive
A lot of musical stuff has come from Canada, including The Weeknd, Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Michael Bublé and Kanto Audio. And the latter has just announced the spectacular new record player that you can see in the photo above. It is called Obi3 and it is the first of a series of turntables that the company intends to design and manufacture.
We already know Kanto for its excellent wireless speakers like the five-star Kanto Ren, and the Obi3 has been designed to complement them: it has Bluetooth 5.3 for streaming to active speakers or Bluetooth headphones in addition to the obligatory RCA outputs.
Kanto Obi3 turntable: key features and prices
The Obi3 has a minimalist design and comes in three colors: black, white, and sage green shown in the photo. That’s the one I would buy, because it shows off the minimalist design quite well.
The belt-drive turntable has a built-in switchable preamp, two speeds and, unusually for this price range, tone control so you can make Justin Bieber sound like a chipmunk. Bluetooth is 5.3 and the pre-installed cartridge is an Audio-Technica AT3600L; The J-shaped arm is made of aluminum and so is the weighted plate.
The Obi3 is very aggressively priced at $199 / £179 (around AU$300). That compares it to some of the best entry-level turntables from companies like Sony, Audio-Technica, and Pro-ject. You will be able to buy one starting in November 2025.
