- Now we take a proper look at the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V.
- These are the OnePlus gaming phones launching next month
- Previous rumors about a 9,000 mAh battery have been confirmed
After the impressive OnePlus 15, OnePlus is about to launch a pair of gaming-focused phones under the Turbo name, and now we have an official teaser video showing what they will look like.
The video was posted on Chinese social media site Weibo by OnePlus (via 9to5Google) and mentions both a Turbo 6 phone and a Turbo 6V phone. It’s not yet clear what the differences are, but it’s possible that one is more powerful than the other.
We can see at least four colors here – silver, black, pale green and pale blue – and since one of the scenes shows a phone getting hit by dust and water, it looks like these Turbo phones will come with an IP68 rating.
A couple more specs are mentioned in the video: a 165Hz display, for smooth gaming action, and a 9,000mAh battery. That huge battery capacity was previously rumored, and now we have confirmation from OnePlus that it’s on the way.
Coming next month
In terms of the design of these phones, it looks like OnePlus isn’t straying too far from the sleek aesthetic of the OnePlus 15. It’s a simple, easy-on-the-eyes approach, and it works well.
These phones were first hinted at earlier this month, when OnePlus said the phones would focus on gaming and bring with them “frighteningly strong” performance, although we haven’t heard anything about processor or RAM specs yet.
We know that the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V will be revealed on Thursday, January 8, and to start with, they will be launched in China. As usual with OnePlus, we will have to wait a little for international availability and prices.
Since the release date is still more than a week away, we may see more official reveals in the coming days. Given the quality of the best gaming phones already on the market, it’s a pretty bold new venture for OnePlus.
