Are you looking for an interesting new Android smartwatch to spice up your wrist? OnePlus thinks it has a contender in the form of the OnePlus Watch Lite, a new wearable that aims to be a more affordable way to enter the world of smartwatches, but will it do enough to compete against the best cheap smartwatches?
To answer that, we need to know what it does. According to OnePlus, the Watch Lite is “a device designed to deliver flagship-level health and fitness features at an even more affordable price.” That gives us hope that the device won’t be affected too much by its low cost, although OnePlus is keeping the price under wraps for now.
Aside from that, the OnePlus Watch Lite will be available in a Silver Steel finish which OnePlus says “offers a clean, modern look with a subtle shine that suits both everyday wear and active lifestyles.” However, that appears to be the only color option for now.
That’s all OnePlus is willing to reveal at this time. We reached out to the company to see if they had more information and will update this article when we hear back. For now, OnePlus says the Watch Lite will be revealed in full on December 17, “with more details available in the coming weeks.”

The OnePlus Watch Lite was announced alongside two other devices: the OnePlus 15R smartphone and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet. The latter is particularly notable as the first OnePlus tablet to offer 5G connectivity.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors about the OnePlus Watch Lite. OnePlus itself teased a new watch on its website in early November, but revealed little more than a vague outline of the watch. Given the timing, this teaser appears to have hinted at the Watch Lite.
The big question for OnePlus is whether the Watch Lite can compete with models like the Amazfit Active 2 and Apple Watch SE 3. Amazfit’s wearable is currently our pick for the best cheap smartwatch money can buy, and it comes with a host of impressive features, including great battery life, excellent health tracking, and a gorgeous design.
Right now, there’s no way to know how the Watch Lite compares without OnePlus releasing more information about its wearable device. We’ll get that data on December 17, and that will be a key date for anyone looking to get a new smartwatch without spending a lot of money.
