- OnePlus launched its new Wear OS Watch 3 in February
- It is large and heavy, and there is no LTE option in most markets.
- The company has confirmed that it is looking to add a new size and model LTE this year
A few days after the OnePlus Watch 3, OnePlus has confirmed that its new beast of battery life will receive an update at the end of this year to fix three of its biggest failures.
As we point out in our OnePlus Watch 3 review, the new laptop has the best wear battery duration of any of the best Android smart watches on the market. It comes with the classic design language of OnePlus, the new health features and all the Google Overy Party applications that you would expect from a Wear OS smart watch. However, it is also quite large and heavy, and there is no LTE option for cell connectivity outside China.
Now, the company has confirmed that the three problems are in its radar, and says it has plans to introduce a new size and a cell version at the end of this year.
OnePlus Watch 3’s 2025 Update 2025
In the comments made to Warable, the head of R&D of OnePlus Health Lab confirmed that we could see the new models as soon as this year.
“It is true that the clock is still heavy for a small doll and that this generally affects women, but we will fix this year,” said Dr. Leo Zhang to The Outlet. “We value the voice of our clients and we are working on that.”
“LTE is also something that many users ask us,” he added, confirming that there is no technical barrier to add the function. “In China’s domestic market, we have an LTE version,” he said. “In a market abroad, we need to work with operators, and that is a great obstacle. We need to work with operators so that users can put an ESIM and have a data plan.”
The LTE connectivity allows an smart watch to connect to a network of operators and use data such as a smartphone. It allows characteristics such as navigation, calls and text messages, and media transmission even without a smartphone present, a useful feature for runners and other people who want to leave their phone at home and exercise with an independent smart watch.
Zhang said that “whenever we work without problems with operators,” the feature must also be on the update list for the Watch 3 OnePlus.
